Strictly Come Dancing stars Will Mellor, Ellie Simmonds and Tyler West will relive their TV experience as they are the first celebrities announced to join the show’s return to the UK arena tour.
Three celebrity hosts Janet Manrara and judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton du Beke, who are appearing on the tour for the first time, will join the 31 tour dates starting January 20 at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.
The live show will take place at venues including Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena, Leeds’ First Direct Arena, Manchester’s AO Arena and Sheffield and Newcastle’s Utilita Arena, as well as London’s O2 Arena and Belfast’s SSE Arena. OVO Hydro in Glasgow on February 12.
Actor Mellor, who stars alongside Nancy Xu on the show, said: “Strictly one of the most memorable and emotional journeys I’ve ever been on! Stepping out of my comfort zone and being a part of this huge show is something I will never forget.
“I can’t wait to put on my dancing shoes and go across the country to perform on huge stages in front of thousands of people who have watched and supported us. Bring on the tour!”
Paralympic swimming champion Simmonds, who along with her partner Nikita Kuzmin was the sixth competitor to be eliminated from the competition this year, said: “Strictly was an incredibly life-changing and emotional experience for me.
“It gave me a huge confidence and feeling that anything is possible. So to be able to continue my journey on tour next year will be amazing. I can’t wait!”
Kiss FM DJ West, who was voted off the dance show after competing at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom, said: “I never realized how much dancing would change my life, but I can’t express how much I’ve loved it and fully embraced it. The opportunity to learn dance with the best dance partner anyone could ask for in Diane.
“I’m so glad my Strictly journey isn’t over yet and I can’t wait to revive some of our favorite dances and live like a pop-star on tour for audiences every night. I’m buzzing to hit the road with the gang.”
Revel Horwood returns to direct the 2023 tour, which will see celebrities and professional dancers from the current series of the BBC One show team up with the Strictly Live band.
Organizers said the tour was a “fantastic way” to celebrate the show’s 20th series, with fans able to enjoy “everything they love about the TV show on stage”.
Audiences will get the chance to see the celebrities perform their routines and have the power to decide who wins the Glitterball trophy at the end of each show, voting for their favorite couple via text.
Each performance on the tour will be hosted by a British Sign Language interpreter, who will appear on two large screens on either side of the stage so attendees can book tickets and sit almost anywhere in the arena to enjoy the experience with family and friends, organizers said. .
